Game Objectives and Basic Mechanics
Baccarat is a card game where players compete against the banker to achieve a hand value closest to nine. The game uses one or more decks of standard playing cards, with cards valued as follows: numbered cards retain their face value, face cards and tens are worth zero, and aces count as one. The objective is straightforward—predict whether the player's hand, the banker's hand, or a tie will win the round.
Each round begins with both the player and banker receiving two cards. If either hand totals eight or nine, this is called a "natural" and no additional cards are drawn. If the hand value is five or lower, a third card must be drawn according to established rules. The hand closest to nine wins the round, with the winning position paying out accordingly.
